Rolf Gollob and Gelly Aroni presented the website Living Democracy at the annual European Conference of Erasmus+ in Frankfurt. Following the conference’s motto “Skills for Future – Schools for Future” they ran an interactive workshop on Living Democracy for 50 educators from across Europe.
From 27 to 29 April 2026, the European Conference “Skills for Future – Schools for Future” brought together around 240 education sector representatives from 30 Erasmus+ programme countries in Frankfurt am Main. The conference explored how schools can use Erasmus+ as a strategic tool for future-oriented school development and was aimed at school administrators, teachers and other educational staff. For that, it focused on European perspectives, successful projects, and concrete methods for embedding future skills, innovation and participation in schools, contributing to the development of the European „Union of Skills.” Alongside keynotes and best-practice examples, the conference offered plenty of opportunities for networking and for developing new Erasmus+ project ideas together.
As part of the program, Rolf Gollob, professor emeritus at PH Zurich, and Gelly Aroni, from the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum led a workshop highlighting the potential of the website Living Democracy and its free materials for democracy education. Working with around 50 participants over several hours, they gave a hands-on introduction to the range of materials available on the site. Many were particularly surprised by the number of languages in which the resources for teachers, school leaders and parents are available. Once again, it became clear that effective training needs to be lively, engaging and interactive to leave a lasting impression.
